What is Ayurveda?

An Ancient Science, Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is one of the oldest comprehensive system of medicine as old as 50,000 years. The first time I heard about it was when my brother and his wife traveling to India stopped in an Ayurvedic center for a week of detoxification and rejuvenation. I was really intrigued just by the word "Ayurveda". I started to do my own research and discovered that Ayurveda is considered the yoga sister's science. The 2 systems are really going hand in hand, while yoga is the practice of self-realization Ayurveda is the healing science of life.

This ancient science of Ayurveda is really the art of living wisely and making the right choices in our daily lifestyle and diet to be able to sustain and build a strong immunity and reach our optimal vitality. Ayurveda is allowing us to harness the healing intelligence from our natural environment, what's growing locally and it's allowing us to live in harmony with the seasons, the moon cycles and the 5 elements space, air, fire, water, hearth that are present everywhere in existence. Ayurveda prevent, heal and preserve life. What really resonated with me the first time I learned about Ayurveda was the fact that Ayurveda respect the uniqueness of each individual and it offers natural ways to heal/treat imbalances that may occur. The factors for those imbalances are mainly environmental, dietary, poor work and sleep habits, stress, lack of exercise. Ayurveda treats individual with 3 dimensions Body, Mind and Spirit. With help of diet, herbs, daily/nightly routines and seasonal routines.
